Merganser Lake: Some snowy bird photos

You didn’t think the first snowstorm in New England would pass without me posting some photos of birds in the snow, did you?

Here’s a few to get started. I’ll post more later.

  1. I enjoyed those photos very much, but it’s beautiful in the city too today.
    I’m going to share with you a few lines from Thomas Hardy’s poem “The Darkling Thrush”. Birds appear quite a lot in Hardy’s poems — occasionally they even talk!
    “An aged thrush, frail, gaunt and small
    In blast-beruffled plume”.
    Your cardinal certainly looks hardy, but he does have “blast-beruffled plume”>
