Saw this future monarch butterfly on my walk this afternoon. The fields were filled with milkweed, but this was the only caterpillar I saw.

We’ve a few milkweed plants in our urban yard, but no sign of monarch caterpillars on them. Still, they’re native, and we do see the caterpillars on milkweed elsewhere in Massachusetts.
