I never did post this photo of a siskin that visited a few weeks ago. It showed up on the same day that the purple finch did. The finch stayed for only about an hour, while this siskin remained for a few days before disappearing. Here’s the story regarding those visits.

I had a spate of Pine Siskins last week but they have moved on. The red breasted nuthatches are still here, 3-4 by their appearances at my feeders. The usual assortment of woodpeckers, hairy downy, and red breasted. The sap suckers have migrated but I still hear the pileated call in the woods. Bonus for the past week 12 turkeys, one ruffed grouse, and a broad shouldered hawk in the field we created. We even spotted a male ring necked pheasant on a nearby farm last weekend.
