Ruby-crowned kinglet, fall 2025, Huntington State Park, CT.

I finally got a ruby-crowned kinglet to sit still for half a second. Today’s walk was filled with white-throated sparrows and ruby-crowned kinglets.

darling lil birds, perhaps they don’t show a ruby crown this time of year? Assuming that’s why they’re named Ruby Crowned Kinglets?

  Hi Hootie. Thanks for writing and all your support. They show their crowns only when they are agitated or excited. I guess my presence wasn’t enough to excite them!
